Maxine Nordin, 83, of London, passed peacefully from this life to glory, and surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Arkansas River Valley
Hospice Home in Russellville.
The daughter of Thomas Edward and Rosie Emaline Parshall Parsons, she was born July 22, 1929 in Delaware, AR.
She and R.L. Nordin were married on August 14 1948 in Lamar. Convicted by the gospel, she and R.L. decided to enter full time ministry in the Assemblies of God and began pastoring full time at the Leggett Valley Assembly of God Church in Leggett, CA, serving from 1957 until 1963. Their next calling was to the Flat Rock Assembly of God Church at London, from 1964-66, followed by the Strawberry Assembly of God church at Hagarville from 1967 until 1973 when brother R.L. died unexpectedly in an automobile accident.
Sister Nordin remained a faithful servant in the Assemblies and she was devoted to her 4 children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Martin Chapel Assembly of God Church, bible class teacher and a Women's Ministry Leader. She loved to cook, enjoyed gardening, sewing and studying the word of God.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 3 sisters, Ruby Wyatt, Lelia Childress, Lucinda Cowell; 2 brothers, Everette Parsons, Johnny Parsons.
She is survived by 4 children, Brenda Henderson (William), London, Paul Nordin (Pam), Russellville, Janet Vogelpohl (Lambert), Paris, Phillip Nordin (Debi), Russellville; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Parsons, Lamar; 2 sisters, Alma Galentine, Abilene, TX, Lucille Fetters Kloth, Lindsay, CA.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at First Assembly of God Church at Russellville. Rev. Jerry Ferguson and Rev. Claude Jackson will officiate. Burial will be at Hickey Cemetery in Hickeytown by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
