John Henry
Mar 5, 1896 - Jan 12, 1974

Annie Elizabeth Scroggins married John Henry Huffman on March 12, 1919 in Van Buren Co., Arkansas. Annie was the daughter of Jesse James and Mary Ann Elizabeth "Lizzie" Reid Scroggins. Annie and Henry were the parents of 14 children. They lived from 1919 until 1933 at Cleveland Conway Co., Arkansas and from 1933 until their deaths they lived at Jerusalem, Conway Co., Arkansas.
Annie was a shining light for everyone who knew her. She held all the virtues of the human spirit. Love, Kindness, Patience, Laughter. Once I asked her why she never complained about anything, she simply said Kathy, if a person cannot say something good, it is better to just not say anything at all. Annie believed in taking care of the graves of her loved ones, she taught me to do the same. When I was about ten years old she took to each of the graves one by one, telling me a story about each one. The last graves were marked Franklin. She took my hand and said This is my Great Grandparents, look Kathy it says Franklin, just like your last name. I was a little confused. I had worked these grave for years and though I had seen the name it never really occurred to me to ask any questions. I said Grandma are they kin to my Daddy? She said no hon, they are not, at least as far as I know. She said I just wanted to show you that I came from Franklins just like you. She squeezed my hand and smiled. Then she said the most profound thing to me, she said Kathy, I have taken you to visit each one because you have to remember the ones who came before, if you forget them, they will be lost. Do you understand? I shook my head yes and I made a promise to my Grandmother not to forget. I have kept that promise and I will continue to keep it and hopefully someday, I will be able to pass the promise to another generation. Annie loved her Lord. She loved her family and was a devoted Christian. Annie was of the Church of Christ faith.
Annie Elizabeth Scroggins Huffman was a true Saint on this Earth and now she is with our Lord in Paradise.
