U.S. VeteranCharles Leo McConnell, 80, of Aurora, Arkansas, died August 25, 2012 at his home. He was born June 14, 1932 at Aurora, Arkansas, the son of Claud and Alma Whorton McConnell. He was life-long farmer on his farm in Aurora, where he had dairy and beef cattle, turkeys, pigs and goats. He was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church, a board member of the Aurora Cemetery and an active member and past commander of Hayes-Smith Post #137, American Legion at Huntsville where he served for fifty-seven years. One of his greatest pleasures in life was spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James McConnell and Cotton McConnell.

Survivors include: his wife of fifty-nine years, Carolyn Stroud McConnell of the home; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Arvel McConnell and Marty McConnell, both of Aurora, Arkansas, Rocky and Janice McConnell of Littleton, Colorado; one daughter, Dianna McConnell of Aurora, Arkansas; one grandson and his significant other, Joey McConnell and Stacy Messenger of Springdale, Arkansas; two granddaughters and husbands, Brandi and Marvin Solozano of Huntsville, Arkansas and Corrie and J. R. Lievsay of Manassas Park, Virginia and one great-grandson, Jackson Lievsay of Manassas Park, Virginia.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A. M. Saturday, September 1, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with The Reverends Glen Faulkner and Jimmy Allen officiating. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home www.brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be: Rocky McConnell, Joey McConnell, Marty McConnell, Marvin Solozano, J. R. Lievsay and Lanny McConnell. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Hayes-Smith Post #137, American Legion. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. on Friday at the funeral home.

Mary Carolyn McConnell, 87, of Huntsville; died Friday, August 28, 2020, at Fayetteville. She was born Friday, February 3, 1933, at Huntsville; to James Clarence and Edith Haney Stroud.

Carolyn married Charles Leo McConnell on Wednesday, December 24, 1952; at Huntsville; and together they were parents to three children. Carolyn was a farmer, and a former seamstress for Levi Strauss. She loved to cook, crochet, garden, and write in her journals. She dearly loved her family, and always had a positive attitude and a smile to share with others. Carolyn was very active in her community as a member of Harmony Baptist Church, Aurora Ladybugs Extension Homemakers Club, Red Hat Society, Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Democratic Party.

Carolyn was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Carl, Geneva; her twin, Marin Carlis, who died at birth, and Clarence Jr., who also died in infancy. She is survived by two sons, Arvel McConnell and Rocky McConnell, both of Huntsville; one daughter, Diana McConnell of Huntsville; three grandchildren, Brandi and Marvin Solórzano; Joey and Stacy Messenger McConnell; and Corrie and JR Lievsay; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Lievsay and Ava Lievsay.

Carolyn will be in state Wednesday, September 2, from 12:00 noon until 5:00 PM. Graveside memorial services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 3, 2020, at the Aurora Cemetery Pavilion with Glen Faulkner officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Arvel McConnell, Rocky McConnell, Joey McConnell, Marvin Solórzano, JR Lievsay, and Jackson Lievsay. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Carolyn's name may be made to Aurora Cemetery, PO Box 1491, Huntsville, AR 72740. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
