Leonard Earl Richards, was born August 19, 1918, at (Cabin Creek) Lamar, Arkansas. He passed from this life August 23, 2013, at his home in Clarksville. He was the son of the late Alonzo Earl and Renna Ethel Clark Richards. Leonard was in the CCC, National Forrestery Fire and Fire Towers at Deer, Pilot Knob and helped build Cozart Towers near Ozone. He worked in sawmills, saw fixer, made knives from old saws, known as knife man, saw man, mower fixer, plumber, tree cutter. If he did not have a tool he needed he made one. A Corporal in the Army during WWII- European Campaign. Friend to all he never passed anyone in need of help. He and Sylvia worked for the Salvation Army Store in Clarksville for ten years. He was raised in the Baptist Church and earned his Doctorate of Divinity and choose Evangelitic ministry and loved people. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo Earl and Renna Ethel Clark Richards; first wife, Sylvia Smith Richards, son, Kelvin Lee Richards; daughter, Sharron Sue Richards; step-daughter, Janice Denise Shores; sister, Lola Robinson; brother, Loyd Richards On March 18, 2004 he married Wanda Barens and they spent nine and a half wonderful years together. If you do not believe it you could ask, and he would tell you they had a wonderful life together. Wanda's family had a wonderful Dad and Grandpa. He was a loving dad, grandfather, great- grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He loved his children and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He leaves behind his wife, Wanda Lue Barens Richards of Clarksville, Arkansas; two sons, Lawrence and wife, Wilma Richards of Clarksville, Arkansas, Clarence and wife, Jennie Richards of Cedarville, Arkansas; step-son, Tony William Shores of Taylor, MI; daughters, Lena Gurney of Farmington, Arkansas, Normaline and husband, Wayne Crowe of Fort Smith, Arkansas; step-daughter, Julie and husband, Jimmy Watson of Hallett, Oklahoma; five nieces and nephews; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 2-5p.m., Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Broussard Pledger Funeral Home, Clarksville, Arkansas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2013 at Broussard Pledger Funeral Home Chapel, Clarksville, Arkansas. Burial will be in Minnow Creek Cemetery, Lamar, Arkansas. Reverend Tom Patton officiating. Pallbearers will be Anthony Richards, Darrell Richards, Caleb Richards, Jerred Watson, Caleb Smith, Criss Gurney, Zach Gurney. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jacob Richards, Willie Hughes, Wilma Adams, Aaron Gurney, Matthew Beard, Steven Beard, Jared Watson, Danny Beard. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Johnson County Hospice.
