*Obituary - Wanda Daniel Pearson
Wanda Daniel Pearson, born February 24, 1927, left this life, May 30, 2020. A native of Lamar, Wanda was the daughter of Daniel Webster "Web" and Dorothy Killough Daniel. She and her siblings, Katherine, Evelyn, Harold, Billy Mac, Dan, Nita, and Bob enjoyed life on the family farm at Red Lick and later in their home in Lamar. The Daniel family remained closely knit even when several of them moved to the McCleary, Washington, area.
Wanda Pearson's keen wit, sparkling sense of humor, and fashion essence were some of her notable qualities. She is best described as loving and caring; Wanda cherished her husband, Orville E. Pearson, who preceded her in death in 2006, and every member of her family. The Pearsons were long-time residents of the Minnow Creek community where they raised their family. Her children fondly recall that Wanda was a strict adherent of Frank Sinatra's theme song, "My Way," but "her way" included making sure her family and friends received her full attention and care.
Wanda Pearson lived a life of loyal service to her family, friends, church, and community. She showed her love by caring for her parents and husband, assisting with meals for grieving families, and offering gracious hospitality to visiting family members and friends. Her cooking was unsurpassed, and her recipes are cherished by those with whom she shared generously. Wanda Pearson was a skilled seamstress, talented artist in oils, excellent homemaker, and mother beyond compare. She was a willing volunteer in numerous charitable organizations and activities.
A faithful member of Mt. Home FWB Church, Wanda served as a church trustee and also president of the women’s auxiliary group for many years. An active member of the Hagarville Extension Homemakers, she received recognition for her SO-plus years of membership in the organization. As a teenager her membership in the local 4-H club helped mold her work ethic. Her involvement in 4-H continued through her adult life. Mrs. Pearson was a founding leader of the Minnow Creek 4-H club and a 4-H leader for more than 40 years, influencing and guiding three generations of young people. She was actively involved in the Minnow Creek Cemetery Association and served as a director from 1986 to 2020. She worked diligently in community organizations, including serving several terms as officer and member of the Hagarville Community Association.
A 1944 graduate of Lamar High School, Wanda maintained close ties to many of her classmates and friends with her participation in the Lamar Schools' annual reunion. For years Wanda Pearson participated in the Killough reunion and was the moving force in planning and organizing the annual Daniel family reunion. She counted cousins by the dozens and treasured each one.
Wanda Pearson was never idle. She was employed at the local poultry processing plant, owned and operated a laundromat, managed Cash Jewelry at the Clarksville Walmart store, and was a driving force in the family retail business.
Wanda Daniel Pearson leaves her children, Linda of the Holman community, David of Lamar, and Dennis of Little Rock, and their spouses, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 3 sisters-in law, innumerable nieces, nephews, family members, and friends to grieve her passing. Wanda Pearson's life will continue to impact everyone who knew and loved her.
Open viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, Noon to 4:00 p.m., at Hardwicke Funeral Home in Clarksville.
Graveside services for Wanda Daniel Pearson will be at the Minnow Creek Cemetery, Thursday, at 2:00 p.m., with the eulogy composed by Wanda's pastor, Claude Froggatt, and read by Reverend Amos Pledger.
