Mildred Ruth Bumgarner, 87, of Huntsville, Arkansas, died June 14, 2008 at her home. She was born September 14, 1920 at Hutchinson, Kansas, to Mennonite Minister Reverend H. T. Unruh and his wife, Anna (Gaedert) Unruh. She was educated at Bluffton College in Ohio and at Bethel College in Newton, Kansas. She was a school teacher for more than twenty-six years in Germantown, Ohio, Lehigh, Sharon and Newton, Kansas and finally, at Huntsville. She was married on June 1, 1943 to Reverend Don V. Bumgarner, with whom she just celebrated a sixty-fifth wedding anniversary. She was a member of the Huntsville United Methodist Church and the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include: her husband, Don Bumgarner of the home; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Madeline Bumgarner of Sydney, Australia, Keith and Doris Bumgarner of Huntsville, Arkansas, Bruce and Jackie Bumgarner of Plano, Texas and Donald W. "Donnie" Bumgarner of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Carlton Butler of Huntsville, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; Philip Scherrer, Elizabeth Scherrer, Carolyne Dal Bianco, Krystal Pierce, Kevin Montgomery, Jessie Tiner, Amanda Bumgarner and Aaron Bumgarner; and eight great-grandchildren, Joseph Scherrer, Joshua Scherrer, Phoebe Scherrer, Zane Dal Bianco, Cameron Montgomery, Caleb Montgomery, Allan Ray Pierce and Bennett Tiner.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P. M. to 7:00 P. M. on Monday at the funeral home. Anyone wishing to share a remembrance about Mildred may email the family at donnieb@madisoncounty.net.
