CLARKSVILLE- George M. Taylor Jr., 78, of Clarksville died Monday, March 23, 2009. He was born Aug. 15, 1930, in Clarksville. He was a graduate of Fort Smith High School and the University of Arkansas, a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Overland Park Host Lions Club, Abdullah Shrine, Scottish Rites, the Dwight Cowie American Legion Post and First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville, served in the Navy and was a pharmaceutical representative for Proctor & Gamble.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with burial at Mt. Airy Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.

He is survived by his wife, Gaye; a daughter, Stephanie Taylor of Kansas City, Kan.; a son, George Taylor III of Evansville, Ind.; two stepsons, James Johnson of Springdale and Robert Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla.; and seven grandchildren

Gaye Strong Taylor, age 85, died peacefully July 19, 2020. She was born January 3, 1935 in Clarksville Arkansas to Gayland and Ruby Strong. She was married to George M. Taylor who preceded her in death. Her sister Sonia Strong Pendergrass and her brother Edward Dwight Strong also preceded her in death.

Gaye was a dedicated educator who enjoyed visiting with her students years later, a member of P.E.O, playing bridge, entertaining, talking about her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her life was a living example of kindness, grace, and an abundance of love.

Gaye is survived by three sons and one daughter: James Gayland Johnson (Florence) of Springdale, Arkansas, Robert Hodge Johnson of Clarksville, Arkansas, George Taylor (Kristi) of Evansville, Indiana and Stephanie Taylor of Kansas City, Kansas. Seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She is also survived by one cousin David Taylor of Clarksville, Arkansas, one niece Sarna Pendergrass of Jackson, Wyoming and one nephew John Pendergrass of St. Louis, Missouri.

A day of viewing will be held at Hardwicke Funeral Home Friday July 24 in Clarksville, Arkansas. Graveside services will be 9:30 A.M. Saturday, July 25 at Mount Airy Memorial Cemetery in Clarksville, Arkansas.
