Mattie Mozelle Atkins, 83, of Ozone, Arkansas died April 14, 2009 at her home. She was born on May 1, 1925, to the late Jack and Lillian (Bump) Melson. She was a homemaker, a retired school cook, and a member of the Ozone Baptist Church.

She leaves behind her husband, Ollen Atkins; two sons, Jerry Atkins of Ozone, Arkansas and Jesse Atkins of Paso Robles, California; two brothers, Doyle Melson of Clarksville, Arkansas and Eugene Melson of Ozone, Arkansas; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in her death by her parents; one sister, Mildred Turner; and four brothers, Paul, Elzie, C.W., and Virgil Melson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2009. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the Ozone Baptist Church, with Reverend Mike Sawyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Airy Cemetery, in Clarksville.

Pallbearers will be David Melson, Rickey Melson, Mike Melson, Steve Melson, Mathew Atkins, and Dewaun Turner.

Wesley Kendrick, Darren Turner, and Randall Atkins will serve as honorary pallbearers.

All arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home (479) 754-2201.
