Alonzo
October 3, 1871 - November 17, 1911

Alonzo Kolb and Arminta Arnold were married on September 18, 1890 at Smedley, Arkansas. They had eleven children, but only seven of them lived to adulthood.

On November 16, 1911, a misunderstanding occurred between Alonzo and a local merchant over a debt that Alonzo had already paid. The merchant got upset, thinking Alonzo had lied and he shot Alonzo in the back. It was later proved that Alonzo was correct; the debt had been paid.

After treatment from the local doctors, Alonzo was then placed on a train headed to Little Rock. Since there were more doctors and intensive care treatments available in Little Rock, it was thought Alonzo might have a chance for survival. But, he died in Morrilton, Arkansas in route to Little Rock the next day. The shooter was never brought to justice, as he left the country, never to be found.

Armintia
January 10, 1874 - November 17, 1949

Laura Arminta Arnold married Alonzo Kolb on September 18, 1890. They were the parents of 11 children. Four of those children died in infancy. Seven of them reached adulthood.

Called "Mintie" by her family, Arminta's parents were William C. & Nancy Rosanna Kendall Arnold. She was the granddaughter of Henry and Ann Eliza Arnold, originally from Alabama and Isaac and Sarah M. Kendall from North Carolina and Tennessee, respectively.

After being a widow a little over ten years, on January 4, 1922, Arminta Kolb married again. Her second spouse was James Newton Kolb, the son of James Layfayette and Ardella Stewart Kolb.

James Newton Kolb and Alonzo Kolb, Arminta's first husband, were 3rd cousins on their paternal side and a 1st cousins on their maternal side. Even though James Newton became a step-father to Arminta's children, they continued to call him "Cousin Jim" his entire life.

After their marriage in Clarksville, Arkansas, James and Arminta made their home in Ola, Arkansas, where they lived until James Newton passed away in 1940.
