Ben Floyd Hardgrave was born August 13, 1928 in Clarksville, Arkansas to Ben and Lela Harding Hardgrave. He passed away on October 17, 2019 in Clarksville, Arkansas at the age of 91. He was a cattle dealer, a member of the Batson Baptist Church and a member of the Masons.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Sue Foster Hardgrave; his brothers, Luster Hardgrave, Robert Hardgrave, and Haskell Hardgrave; his sisters, Iva Ray, Gladys Ingram, and Muriel Hardgrave.

He is survived by his son, Ben Alfred Hardgrave and wife, Judy of Clarksville, Arkansas; his daughters, Peggy Sue Horne and husband, Larry of Clarksville, Arkansas; Dianne Hardgrave of Clarksville, Arkansas; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2019 at the Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville, Arkansas.

Funeral Services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville, Arkansas with Reverend Mike Shields, Reverend Ben Jerod Hardgrave, and Reverend Larry Horne. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery in Clarksville, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Lonnie Turner, Rick Harmon, Dale Meek, Richard Mays, Gary Smith, Don Dougan, Eddie McCormick, and Charlie Koch. Honorary Pallbearers are Ben Jerod Hardgrave, Aaron Vincent Horne, Corey Ostendorf, Austin Keefer, Kyle Keefer, Ben James Hardgrave, Lance Hunter Scott, Owen Wayne Ostendorf, Brent Scott, Jason Baumgartner, and Stacy Reeves.

Ms. Betty Sue Foster Hardgrave, 73, of Clarksville went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 27, 2004. Daughter of the late Alfred and Clara Foster, Mrs. Hardgrave was born in Franklin County in 1931, but lived in Johnson County for the past 58 years. She was a loving wife and mother, and was known for her hospitality, warm smile and willingness to serve others. She worked diligently in the Johnson County Courthouse for 25 years, having served as Circuit Clerk for 14 of those years. Mrs. Hardgrave was very involved in her church and community. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday school teacher and church clerk for many years. She had been a member of Eastern Star, was active in the Sulphur Springs EHC, and had served as a 4-H leader. Surviving family members include her husband of 58 years, Ben Floyd Hardgrave; her son and daughter-in-law, Ben Alfred and Judy Hardgrave; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Larry Horne, and a daughter, Dianne Urell, all of Clarksville. Other survivors include a sister-in-law, Muriel Hardgrave of Ozark; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Guy and Velma Foster and Tommy and Mary Foster of Ozark; three sisters, Rhoda Kelly of Ozark, Lillian Parker of Modesto, Calif., and Alta Johnston of Mulberry; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marcella and Ira Mitchell and Joyce and Roy Crooks, all of Ozark, She is also survived by six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life was held at Union Grove Baptist Church on Thursday, December 30, 2004, at 2 p.m. Rev. Larry Horne and Rev. Burnett King, officiated the service. Ms. Hardgrave was laid to rest at Union Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Claud Dougan, Gene Raible, Mike Jacobs, Wes Kendrick, Lonnie Turner and Duane Steele. Honorary pallbearers were: Glen Drum, Bob Hurley, Loyd Yates, C.O. Blackard, Donald Meek, Dale Meek, John Patterson, Rick Harmon, Kenneth Harmon, Howard Halmes and Don Dougan.
