America C. Summers, born in Cannon Co.,
Tenn. in 1844, coming to Lexington,
Okla. in 1890. In 1892 she was married
to Rev. Wm. Nickell. While she was not
blessed by any children of her own she
was a true mother to her six step-
children. In 1865, she gave her heart
to Christ, was baptized and became a
member of the Church of Christ. She was
a true and devout Christian until the
Lord took her away. While she had been
an invalid for years she was always
cheerful and would always ask those
whom she met if they were Christians.
She always was ready to speak of her
Lord and Savior in whom she put her
trust. She only lived in this
immediate vicinity for a few months
but had won numerous friends by her
kindness, patience and cheerfulness.
She died at her home west of Gravette
at 5 a.m. July 26, 1921.
