Mary Sumner Bush, 93, a lifelong resident of Pine Bluff, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Born November 20, 1917, in Pine Bluff, she was a daughter of the late Odell Solomon and Lena May Brown Sumner.
She was reared and received her education in Pine Bluff, attending Pine Bluff and Watson Chapel Schools.
In 1937, she married Thomas Harvey Bush, they shared over 60 years together until his death in 1998. Though she spent many years as a homemaker, Mrs. Bush also worked for Oak Park Animal Hospital as the receptionist for over 10 years.
She was a charter member of Central Baptist Church, was in the Fidelis Sunday School Class and was formerly a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Cotton Belt Railroad Trainmen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Mozelle Nissblatt; and one grandson, Jonathan King.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara Bush and husband, Dalton Hickerson, of White Hall; her granddaughter and caregiver, Lena Bohannan and husband, Doug, of White Hall; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son.
