LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. — The world lost an amazing soul on Sept. 4, 2014. Jason Bertschy, 32, passed away peacefully after arduously fighting his battle with cancer for over two years.

Words cannot express the loss felt by those who love him, but we are honored to have known him and take refuge in his recent peace.

He had the most genuine, kind, loving and adventurous spirit. His energy and zest for life was palpable and be made everyone around him a better person through his example.

Jason was an avid outdoorsman and thoroughly loved being in nature. We take comfort in knowing that he is finally doing the things he so loved again and kayaking the rivers of heaven! We only hope his fellow angels can keep up!

He had many names to many people: Otter, Duck Tape, Bertschy. But we all knew Jason had a soul like no other, one that was destined to do great things both in this life and the next!

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Donnelly Bertschy, and son, Beckett Charles Bertschy of Lee's Summit, Mo.; and father and mother, Jerry and Rosie Bertschy of Pineville, Mo.

A memorial will be held at First Christian Church, 807 S.E. 14th St., Bentonville, Ark., on Sept. 12, 2014, from 10 a.m. to noon. A private graveside service for the family will be at Dug Hill, Bella Vista, Friday afternoon.

We are and always will be Team Bertschy.
