PEA RIDGE — Mary Lou Bertschy, 71, of Pea Ridge died May 5, 2002, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. She was born Nov. 3, 1930, in Bentonville to Curtice and Della Mae McCabe Boren. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. She was a graduate of Bentonville High School, where she played basketball, was a cheerleader and was editor of the school newspaper. She and her family were selected as the first Benton County Farm Family of the Year. She was an avid gardener. Her husband, Louis Ivan Bertschy, preceded her in death.

Survivors include four sons, Steve Bertschy and wife Sandy of Bentonville, David Bertschy and wife Jill of Daingenfield, Texas, Tony Bertschy and wife Terri of Bentonville and Tim Bertschy and wife Katherine of Pea Ridge; one daughter, Kathy Rawlings and husband John of Wausau, Fla.; one brother, Max Boren of Buckeye, Ariz.; one sister, JoAnn Rogers of Tulsa, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bentonville Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.

The family will greet friends following the funeral at 503 Southwest O St., Bentonville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bentonville school system or the Needy Children's Fund, c/o Randy and Sue Ann Banks.
