ROGERS — Donald Layne Halstead, 81, died Sept. 17, 2013, in Rogers, Ark. He was born in Deuel County, S.D., on April 21, 1932, to the late William and Mary Ellen (Hewitt) Halstead.

He was the loving husband for 60 years of Bobbie (Winkler) Halstead of Rogers, Ark.

He was the owner of Don Halstead Construction in Brookings, S.D., for 20 years, before retiring to Rogers in 1996.

He was a devoted Christian and member of Southside Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, traveling and woodworking. He was a Brookings city commissioner for seven years.

He was a person of great integrity who always kept his word. He was known for his sense of humor and contagious laugh. He had a gift of making everyone feel special.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Mike (Terri) Halstead of Iowa, Tim (Melinda) Halstead of Texas, and Randy (Jackie) Halstead of Tennessee; daughter, Cindy Croft of Minnesota; brother, Richard Halstead of South Dakota; and sister, Athalyn Jones of South Dakota; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, Sept, 20, 2013, starting at 1 p.m. in Southside Church of Christ with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Burial is at Rogers City Cemetery. Services are provided by Rollins Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.rollinsfuneral.com.

Bobbie Jean Halstead (Winkler), age 89, passed away on September 10, 2020 in Odessa, Texas.

Bobbie was born on October 7, 1930 to Dana and Rufus Winkler in Anniston, Ala. Bobbie graduated from Eulaton, Alabama High School in 1948. She married Donald Halstead in 1953 and they were married for 59 years. They lived most of their married life in Brookings, South Dakota and the final 18 years of marriage in Rogers, Ark. Bobbie lived at Madison Medical Resort of Odessa, Texas for the past six years.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don, and precious oldest son, Michael.

Bobbie is survived by two sons, Timothy (Melinda) Halstead of Odessa, Texas and Randy (Jackie) Halstead of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter, Cindy (Don) Bachman of Deer Creek, Okla.; daughter-in-law, Terri Halstead of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

Bobbie was an avid walker for most of her life. She and Don were active members of the Southside Church of Christ in Rogers, Ark. and were greatly loved by their church family there. When she moved to Odessa, she attended the New Life Church, where her son and daughter-in-law minister. Bobbie stayed in contact with her close friends and family, even mastering Facebook to stay connected to those she loved. She will be missed by all who loved her wit and wisdom.

Bobbie will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in Rogers, Ark. Memorials can be made to the New Life Church at www.newlifeodessa.org or Selah Center for Spiritual Formation www.selahspiritual.com.

The family is grateful to the staff at Madison Medical Resort in Odessa, Texas for the loving care provided to Bobbie for the past six years.
