Charles R. Evans, 88, of Jacksonville, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018. He was born on October 12, 1929 in Mansfield, LA to the late Lloyd L. and Rama Peterson Evans. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Pat Evans, one brother, and three sisters.
Charles proudly served his country in the US Army as a medic. Following his time in the service he went on to receive three Masters Degree's. Mr. Evans moved his family to Jacksonville in 1964. He was a Principal for PCSSD, retiring in 1988, after 24 years with the school district. He valued education and was very influential in helping others develop professionally. His students remember him from ''Calling the Hogs'' over the intercom every Friday afternoon. He loved the Razorbacks.
Charles married the love of his life, Pat, and they were married in 1953. Together they raised and loved their family, dedicated themselves to their community, and enjoyed traveling after retirement. They made many friends over the years as they traveled in their motorhome. He enjoyed fishing and spending time on the lake. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, where he was a deacon, and served in various roles over the years.
He is survived by his daughter; Michelle Clark (Gerald), son; Chad Evans (Dena), grandchildren; Dustin Cole (Chrissy), Devin Cole (Carolyn), Chase Evans, Rachel Evans, and Blair Riggins (Heath), as well as one sister; Sharlie Rae Elsenbrock. Mr. Evans will be missed by many friends, including a special colleague who continued to visit him regularly; Linda Remele, and his caregiver; Shiela Elliot.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 18 at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Entombment will follow the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.

Pat Evans, 81, of Jacksonville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 25, 2015. She was born on June 21, 1934 in Walcott, Arkansas. Pat was greeted in heaven by her mom Essie, dad Willie Franklin "Bid" and brother, Argene May. After graduating from Greene County Tech in Paragould she went on to receive her Bachelor's degree in education and later earned her master's degree. Pat spent many years in the education field where she retired from Pulaski County Special School District as an Instructional Specialist. Pat loved sewing, quilting, and Razorback sports. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and Mamaw who always put her family before herself. She and Charles spent many years traveling in their motorhome after retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church, but most important she was a child of God. Today she is not suffering and is walking on streets of gold. Pat will be greatly missed by her husband of 62 years, Charles Evans. Also left with a broken heart are daughter Michelle Clark and her husband Gerald, son Chad Evans and wife Dena, grandchildren, Dustin and Chrissy Cole, Devin and Carolyn Cole, Chase, Rachel and Blair Evans. Pat also leaves brothers Dean and Jackie May along with several nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home with Bro. Cliff Hutchins and Bro. Mark Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.. Entombment will follow the service in Chapel Pines Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home (501)982-2136. The family would like to thank Shelia Elliot for her loving care and support over the past year. Memorial donations may be made in honor of Pat to First Baptist Church, 401 North First Street, Jacksonville AR 72076.
