Nelson Dewey West, 44, of Rogers died Thursday, July 7, 1994, in Panama City, Fla. Born Aug. 17, 1949, at Bentonville, a son of J.D. and Mary Nelson West, he was a letter carrier for the Rogers Post Office and a member of New Hope Church, where he was the Sunday School secretary, an usher and a member of the finance committee. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served in the U.S. 101st Airborne Division.

Survivors are his wife, Joan Lo Scot West of the home; two daughters, Stephanei Ann Harper and Jamei Suzanne West, both of the home; his parents, J.D. and Mary West of Rogers; a sister, Priscilla Rudd of Houston; and a grandchild.

Funeral is 10 a.m. Thursday at New Hope Church of the Nazarene with the Revs. Richard Leffel and Ted Ingram officiating. Burial is in Bland Cemetery in Bentonville, under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Home. Military honors will be by Northwest Arkansas Veterans Funeral Association. Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to New Hope Church of the Nazarene Fellowship Hall.
