Doris Fellow, 86 of Hot Springs passed away on February 26, 2016 following a hospitalization at UAMS. Born November 29, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Mabel and Norman Paton. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Lyle J Fellows, Sr.; sister, Norma Nash and her brother, Jack Paton. She is survived by daughter, Julie Marshall and her husband, Lynn of Little Rock; son, Lyle J. Fellows, Jr and his wife, Lori of Collierville, TN; son, Matthew Fellows and his wife Gavin of Boerne, Texas; grandchildren Jessica Marshall of New York, New York; Lambert Marshall of Little Rock; Paton Fellows of Nashville, TN; Lyle J. Fellows, III of Nashville, TN; Rory Fellows of Boerne, TX and Taylor Fellows of Boerne, TX and several nieces and nephews. Doris also had many special friends in Hot Springs and at the Atrium. Doris was born in Howell, Michigan and spent her early life in Howell and Pontiac, Michigan where she graduated from Howell High School. Her extended family lived in Michigan and Ontario, Canada and she spent summers with her family both in Michigan and on Lake Erie in Ontario. In 1966 she moved to Malvern, Arkansas with her husband Lyle and their children. She soon became known to many through her love of antiques and opening of what would become Antique Fellows and Friends. She had a passion for the business and eventually opened Antique Fellows in Malvern, DeQueen and Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was active in the Arkansas Antique Dealers Association. She could easily be spotted at antique auctions across the state. Doris, fondly known as “Antique Red”, was an original “picker” across many states and countries. Many people will remember Doris when they look at the European and Americana articles that she provided for their enjoyment. Doris was a woman from humble beginnings and after marrying Lyle, she worked Citizens Insurance Company in Howell, and then focused on raising their family. Having moved from her roots in Michigan in her late thirties, she quickly adapted to Arkansas but always traveled back to Michigan to spend time with her family. In her later years, she along with Lyle Sr. traveled to see her grandchildren who were the apple of their eye. “Gram” as she was known by her grandchildren will be missed by Jessica, Lambert, Paton, Lyle, Rory and Taylor. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Hot Springs, and in July, 2011, she and Lyle moved to The Atrium in Hot Springs. The family would like to say a special thanks to Michael Mattox, Senior Pastor at the First United Methodist Church in Hot Springs and to the frequent visitors from Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. In respect for Doris’ wishes, there will be a celebration of her life at a later date that will be announced by the family. Memorials may be made to UAMS, First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs or the Kidney Foundation of Arkansas (1818 N Taylor Street #186, Little Rock, AR).
