John B. Easley passed away on September 25, 2020 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, AR.

He was born on Christmas Day, 1932 to Edgar Rice Easley and Nancy Pearl Skaggs Easley. He attended Pea Ridge School for 12 years, graduating in 1950. John did farm work and raised chickens for two years during which time he married his high school sweetheart, June Stroud in May of 1951. He went on to work for Model Laundry in Rogers for two years, first as a presser and later as a route man. John and June moved to Springdale where he worked at AQ Chicken House for two years and then to Fayetteville where he worked for College Club Dairy for two years as a route man. They then moved back to Pea Ridge in 1956 and John bought a Kraft milk route that he had for eight years. During this time he raised chickens, worked for Sisco Funeral Home and Ambulance, and was a sign painter. John was on the volunteer fire department in the 1950’s and 60’s.

John and June opened their first retail business, White’s Home and Auto Store, in 1963 in Pea Ridge. In 1986, the business name changed to Easleys’ Ace Hardware. In the late 1990’s, they changed the name to Easleys’ Hardware and Lumber and did business until June 2006, when they sold the business. In 1976-77, John worked at Arvest Bank as V.P. while June, Ray and employees ran the business. In the early 1960’s, John was a Justice of the Peace and then Mayor of Pea Ridge in 1965-66. He was a member of the Jaycees and the Chamber of Commerce. He was instrumental in the development and paving of Gann Ridge Road in the 1970’s. He later served eight years on the City Council. John was of the Baptist faith and a believer in Christ.

John enjoyed quail hunting, riding his tractors and bulldozer, driving trucks, socializing with his coffee buddies, and telling stories.

John was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Carl (Nadine), Catherine, Louise, Lee, Jo Ann, and Joyce; and infant son John Scott. Survivors include his wife June, son Ray (Betty) Easley, daughter Debra Bullard, grandchildren Brian (Sydney) Easley, Brad (Silvia) Easley, Bright (Cash) East, Lily Grace (Richard) Fretueg, and Claire Bullard; great-grandchildren Eli Easley, Evie and Louis East; brother Jackie (Minnie) Easley, brothers-in-law Harold Beard, Don (Shirley) Stroud and Joe Stroud, sister-in-law Lola Easley, and many nieces and nephews. Honorary pall bearers will be John’s many friends.

Graveside services are set for 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 1 at Buttrams Chapel Cemetery in Pea Ridge. Friends and family are encouraged to bring their own chairs to cemetery. Visitation hours are from 12-6 p.m. Wednesday, September 30 at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge. The public in invited to come and sign the register book then. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made the the Pea Ridge Scholarship Fund in c/o Sisco Funeral Home P.O. Box 54 Pea Ridge, Arkansas 72751.
