GATTON, Richard N. - Richard N. Gatton, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Gatton, passed away at his home in Rocky Dell neighborhood Tuesday afternoon September 19th following a brief illness. Death was due to heart trouble. Dick, as he was known to his friends, was born Oct. 6th, 1909 at Noel, Missouri but had lived most of his life in this community, having come here when a small lad. He attended the Rocky Dell school and grew to manhood here. He was converted at the early age of 14 and lived a consistent Christian life. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. T.H. Wright at the Mt. Pleasant church Wednesday afternoon, attended by a large crowd of his friends and neighbors who came to pay their last respects. The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful. Burial was made in the cemetery near by. The deceased is survived by his mother and father, three sisters: Mrs. Carmen Duncan, Elgin, Kansas, Mrs. Cleo Tate, Centerton and Miss Junie Gatton of the home; also two brothers, both of the home, Ross and Franklin, and his grand parents, J.W. Gatton, and grandmother, Mrs. Ella Phillips. The entire community extends their deepest sympathy to the bereaved ones in their hour of sorrow.
