Georgie Lee Roberts, age 96, of Hot Springs, AR passed away on
May 9, 2016. She was a long-time resident of McGehee, AR. She was born on February 3, 1920 in Lacey, AR to the late Johnny and Bertie Barrett.
Georgie was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William Kelcer “W.K.” Roberts; one son, William Kenneth Roberts; two daughters, Patricia Ann Roberts and Lillian Wareene Roberts; one granddaughter, Summer Epperson Marsh; her parents Johnny & Bertie Barrett; three brothers, Hubert Barrett, Ervin Barrett and Lester Barrett, two brothers-in-law, Glenn Roberts and Derwood Roberts; two sisters-in-law Juanita Allison and
Lois Davis, and one niece Libby Allison.
She is survived by two daughters: Judy Hudgens of Hot Springs, AR, and Wanda Epperson & husband Herb of El Dorado, AR; one daughter-in-law, Shizue “Mimi” Roberts of McGehee, AR; eight grandchildren: Missy Newcomb & husband Rob of Hot Springs, Bill Fortenberry of Hot Springs, Cynthia
Montgomery & husband Steve of McGehee, Alesia Lucky & husband Bob of
McGehee, Kenneth Roberts and wife Suzanne of Monticello, and Teresa
Epperson of El Dorado, Sherry Cox and husband Phillip of New Boston, TX, and Sharon Epperson of Morrilton; three sisters-in-law Lila Barrett of Silvester, GA, Mary Barrett of Little Rock, and Ruth Roberts of Crossett. Georgie is also survived by 17 great grand children, 6 great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends and other family members.
Georgie was a Christian and member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Hot
Springs, AR. She loved her church family and our Lord and Savior. She enjoyed any kind of crafts including sewing, ceramics and needle point. She also loved raising beautiful African Violets. She worked in retail sales most of her life, with her last employment being Yellow Butterfly of McGehee, owned by her beloved friend and employer, Mary Greenway. Georgie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother & great-great grandmother. She loved her family very much and was much loved by us all.
Visitation will be held on May 11th from 10:00 to 11:00 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR with funeral services beginning at 11:00. Burial will follow at Lacey Cemetery.
Brother George Vincent, Pastor of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will officiate the services assisted by Brother Doug Tippitt, Associate Pastor.
Pallbearers will be: Rob Newcomb, Bill Fortenberry, Kenneth Roberts, Bob
Lucky, Grant Roberts, Jacob Roberts, Steve Montgomery and Robert Lucky.
