Barney Bolden Cockrell Jr., 90, of Jacksonville passed from this life on Sunday, August 26, 2018. He was born Saturday, October 1, 1927 in Phillips County, Arkansas to the late Barney Bolden Cockrell Sr. and Margaret M. Hall Cockrell. Mr. Cockrell was a member of Marshall Road Baptist Church and proudly served his country in the United States Navy for twenty years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, water skiing and oil painting. Barney will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jamie Gault.
Survivors include his loving wife of seventy years, Bettye Jane Atkins Cockrell; children, Dennis (Marcy) Cockrell of Cabot, Dan (Karan) Cockrell of White Hall; grandchildren, Daniel (Ashley) Cockrell of Ward, Becky (John) Mincy of White Hall, Robbie (Cassie) Redus of Pearland, Texas, Ricky Redus of Austin, Texas, Cody Cockrell of Canyon Lake, Texas, Kristy Cockrell of Cabot, Denise Cockrell-Wren of Hawkinsville, Georgia, Keith Ray of California, and Lena Ray of Cabot. Other survivors include sisters, Mary Wilson of Cabot, Barbara Kizer of Las Vegas, Nevada; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Fallon Cockrell, Karley and Russell Redus, Glory, Hope and Grace Mincy; along with a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services with military honors will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Chapel Hill Memorial Park with Brother Cliff Hutchins officiating. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the funeral home. Arrangements entrusted to Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home (501) 982-2136

Bettye Jane Cockrell, 88, of Jacksonville passed from this life on Friday, June 28, 2019. She was born Sunday, August 17, 1930 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Luther L. and Ethel D. Smothers Atkins. Mrs. Cockrell enjoyed sewing, traveling, camping and U.S. History, but found her greatest joy in her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, Barney Bolden Cockrell Jr., and a granddaughter, Jamie Gault.
Survivors include her children, Dennis (Marcy) Cockrell of Cabot, Dan (Karan) Cockrell of White Hall; grandchildren, Daniel (Ashley) Cockrell of Ward, Becky (John) Mincy of White Hall, Robbie (Cassie) Redus of Pearland, Texas, Ricky Redus of Austin, Texas, Cody Cockrell of Canyon Lake, Texas, Kristy Cockrell of Cabot, Denise Cockrell-Wren of Hawkinsville, Georgia, Keith Ray of California and Lena Ray of Cabot. Other survivors include sibling, Janice Mackie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Gene (Martha Jean) Atkins of Jackson, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Fallon Cockrell, Karley and Russell Redus, Glory, Hope and Grace Mincy; along with a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday July 2, 2019 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home with Brother Cliff Hutchins officiating. Entombment will follow Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
