Virgie Maude (Woods) Pruitt Smith of Mountain View, Arkansas

Virgie Maude Woods Smith, daughter of the late Leslie Woods and Bessie Mitchell Woods, was born January 19, 1929 in Mitchell, Arkansas. She departed this life May 15, 2021 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 92 years, 3 months and 26 days.

She was united in marriage to Jackie Pruitt and together they raised one daughter. Sometime after Jackie’s death in 1981, she met Johnny Ray Smith and they were married in 1993.

Virgie spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. She was of the Methodist faith and a member of Hebron Methodist Church in Bexar.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years: Johnny Ray Smith of the home; one daughter Teresa Vasquez of Mountain Home; two brothers: Clifton Woods and wife Frances of Pineville, Gerald Woods of Pineville; two sisters: Essie Magness of Branson, Missouri and Sylvia Hutson and husband J. R. of Mountain Home; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Leon Woods; one sister: Gwen Schauffler and first husband: Jackie Pruitt.

Graveside funeral service will be held Monday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Hebron Cemetery in Bexar, Arkansas under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock.
