May 12, 1955 - November 8, 2019
*Obituary Davis-Smith Funeral Home
Gary Lee Bailey, age 64, of Kirby, went to meet our Lord and Savior on Friday, November 8, 2019.
Gary was born on May 12, 1955 in Nashville, Arkansas, the first of four children born to Leroy Bailey and Nora Elizabeth Lane Bailey. On May 4th, 2007, at his home in Kirby, he married Bessy Lisett Santos.
He was preceded in death by his mother; his paternal grandparents, Otis Levi Bailey and Vena Jackson Bailey; and his maternal grandparents, Delbert (Dink) Lane, and Audie Lockwood Lane.
Gary was a family man and you rarely saw him without a member of his family nearby. He enjoyed the many family gatherings his family had over the years, often times enjoying the music that was played.
Gary was a loving dedicated son to his father, Leroy. He and his brother, Michael, owned and operated their own logging business for over 40 years. Their father; brother, Shane; brother in-law, John; special friend, Randy Cogburn; and many other friends worked by their side many years, as well.
Gary was a farmer, owning cows for a large part of his life and working alongside his father. Gary and Michael worked cows the last years of his life while being supervised by their father. He and Leroy spent many mornings at his sister’s and brother’s in-law, Sandra and John, store in Kirby. Later in life, alongside his wife Bessy, he began raising chickens. The love Gary had for his children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews was always evident. His nieces and nephews always wanted to spend time at Uncle Gary’s growing up.
Gary was a member of Circle Cross Cowboy Church in Glenwood. On July 1, 2018, Gary was baptized in the Caddo River and the love of Christ became very apparent in his life.
Left to honor Gary, and remember his love, are his loving wife, Bessy Bailey of Kirby; his father, Leroy Bailey of Kirby; his children, Williams Talbott and his wife, Nelly Cruz, of Houston, Texas, Diana Talbott of Kirby, Nicole Talbott of Daytona Beach, Florida and Alex Casco of Kirby; his grandchildren, Crystal Talbot, Williams Talbot Jr, Alexander Hernandez and Jeremiah Hernandez; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Renanda Bailey; his sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and John Garett; his brother, Shane Bailey; his sister-in-law, Shelley Porter Bailey, all of Kirby; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; a special friend, Quirino Estrada, and his family; a large extended family and a host of many longtime friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 13, 2019, in the Circle Cross Cowboy Church in Glenwood, with Bro. Bruce Tidwell and Quirino Estrada officiating.
Interment in the Pike City Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Pallbearers will be Dinah Davis, Amber Bailey Young, Aubrey Bailey, Andrea Bailey Holder, Carlee Garrett, Ashton Bailey, Shannon Bailey, and Carson Garrett.
