Mamie Eva Rowen Brown, 95, of Hampton died January 6, 2010 in the Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab Center in Sheridan. She was born March 25, 1914 in Hampton, AR to the late Morris E. and Susie L. Files Rowen. She was a life long resident of Calhoun County. She lived with her family on a farm in Tinsman, AR. She later moved to Hampton and managed the Daryette Cafe and worked at Well's Drug Store and Maxwell Pharmacy in Hampton until she retired at eighty years of age. She was an active member of the Campground Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Hampton.
She was formerly married to Johnnie H. Brown of Tinsman. She was preceded in death by one son, Marion Lynn Brown age 11 who drowned, and three sisters, Francis Rowen Watson, Alma Rowen Gardner, Lillian Rowen Taylor and brother Henry Rowen. She is survived by one brother, H.P. Rowen of Hampton; one son and his wife Jerry D. and Joy Brown of Maumelle; two daughters and their husbands, Joan C. and Bill Buzbee of Saint Francisville, LA, Sherry E. and Boyd Allen of Sheridan. She has seven grandchildren, Jerry Dale Brown, Jr., Debbie Brown Hedrick, Kathy Buzbee Miller, Patty Buzbee Hayden, Billy Joe Buzbee, Jr., Christopher Allen, and Wendy Allen. She also has ten great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard after retiring. She was well known for baking pies for church activities and other social events in Hampton. The family would like to thank Marilyn CNA of Pine Bluff Hospice and Pam Watson, nurse at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab Center, and many others at the health care facilities who cared for our mother.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Campground Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Garland Skidmore and Rev. Skip Shanley officiating. Burial will be at Campground Cemetery. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home of Hampton. To sign the online register visit www.bentonfuneralhome.com.
