Luther Odell Shaw, son of the late Luther Birse Shaw and Betty Myrtle Collie Shaw, was born July 8, 1931 at the family home place in Mount Pleasant, Arkansas. He departed this life at his home in Mount Pleasant, Arkansas at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 8 days.

After graduating high school, Odell attended the University of Arkansas and graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. After college, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After four years of service he was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. While stationed in Washington, he met his future wife, Beverly June Munda. He and Beverly were united in marriage February 24, 1956 in Colville, Washington and together they raised four children. Odell spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, provider and friend. Most of his working years were spent working as a District Soil Conservation Agent, retiring after 20 years of employment. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Mount Pleasant and later Barren Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Beverly June Munda Shaw of the home; two sons and two daughters-in-law: Brian Lee and Pamela Jo (Crow) Shaw of Odessa, Missouri and Lance Morris and Pamela Rhynell Shaw of Blooming Grove, Texas; two daughters and one son-in-law: Barbara Dell and Mark Allen Powell of Gilbert, Arizona and Denise Kathleen Martin of Mount Pleasant; one sister: Pauline Pope of Minden, Louisiana; 13 grandchildren: Larry Hutchison, Ashley Shaw, Dalton Shaw, Ceciley Herkommer, Chris Shaw, Angelica Shaw, D’Lancye Coleman, John Shaw, Rachel McCurley, Nicole Powell, Jacob Powell, Bradley Shaw, Brandie Johnson; 19 great grandchildren: Cheltsey Malone, Kerah Hutchison, Jonas Hutchison, Odin Hutchison, Trent Hutchison, Nadya Riggins, Nicole Ayala, Alexis Shaw, Emma Rose Shaw, Lincoln Shaw, Justin Herkommer, Peter Herkommer, Jo’Cye Coleman, Jase Coleman, Myia Coleman, Tanner Graves, Taya Johnson, Mia Johnson, Grace Shaw; 2 great great grandchildren: Markus Malone and Atticuss Malone and a host of other relatives and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson: Jeramy Hutchison, son-in-law: James Walter Martin; three brothers: Boyd Cecil Shaw, Quimby Porter Shaw, Morris Shaw and five sisters: Zelda Roach, Maye Qualls, Faye Younger, Lolabelle Sipes and Virginia Gould.

Visitation will be Friday, March 19 from 6-7 p.m. at Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.

Graveside funeral service will be Saturday, March 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Barren Fork Cemetery in Mount Pleasant with Allen Meizner officiating.

Memorials may be made to: Barren Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 782 Barren Fork Road, Mount Pleasant, Arkansas 72561.
