James Luther Shaw the son of Collie Morris Shaw and Nina Charlene (McMahan) Shaw.

SEARCY – James Luther Shaw, 56, of Searcy died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, in a Searcy hospital. Born July 10, 1952, in Batesville, he was the son of Collie Morris and Nina Charlene McMahan Shaw.

As a young child he was in the second unit of children to enter the Arkansas Children's Colony in Conway before moving to Booneville and then Searcy, where he lived at Longwood Pathfinders. He collected baseball caps and had a collection of over 200. He enjoyed watching television, playing with toys, looking at his army memorabilia and going to Wal-Mart to get a new movie each week. He was a Mark Martin fan.

He was a three-time state bowling champion and was a member of the Area 6 Special Olympics, where he won many medals. He competed in the Bocce Ball event. He worked for the City of Searcy with the road crew and was a member of the Junior White County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Searcy.

Survivors include three brothers, Collie Shaw and Larry Shaw, both of Mount Pleasant, and Marshall Shaw of Sage; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Melbourne with Bruce Qualls officiating.

Burial will be in Barren Fork Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

Pallbearers will be Collie B. Shaw, Edward Shaw, Dennis Roofe, Mark Williams, Casey Shaw and Jeremy Butts.

Honorary pallbearers are the residents of Longwood Pathfinders.
