Mildred Pemberton Forrest, age 93 of Monticello, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, AR. She was born January 1, 1925 in Pittsburg, TX to the late Samuel Gordon Pemberton and Sarah Suzie Gautney Pemberton.
She was retired cafeteria worker for the Monticello School District and was also involved with the district’s Foster Grandparent Program. She was a charter member of First Freewill Baptist Church and was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Other than her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Forrest; one daughter, Sherrie Forrest; one son, Steve Forrest; five brothers, Foster, Milton, Melton, Bill and Clarence Pemberton; two sisters, Christell Fox and Nevadell Connor; and three grandchildren, Amanda Land, Patrick Forrest and Coleen Hendrix.
Survivors include four sons, Donald Forrest of Lufkin, TX; Glen Forrest of Monticello; Gaylon Forrest of Springdale; Paul Forrest and wife Anne of Monticello; four daughters, Mary Frances Burnett of Monticello, Anita Booker and husband Billy of Monticello, Alesia Hendrix and husband Todd of Spiro, OK and Sarah Land and husband Derrell of Hermitage; twenty-eight grandchildren, forty-five great grandchildren and her children by choice, Sally Watkins, Jenny Wright and her caregiver Delores Woodard and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Campground Cemetery. Visitation 6:00-8:00 Friday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
