Benjamin Lathan Woodard, age 75, of Benton, Arkansas passed away on March 30, 2018.

He was born on June 16, 1942, in Bradley County, Arkansas, the youngest son of the late Silas Lee Woodard and the late Mary May Howsen Woodard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Beverly Jann Williams Woodard, and his older brothers, Harold Woodard, Sr., Bob Woodard, Bill Woodard, and Elroy Woodard. He is survived by his daughters, Julie Partridge and Lucy Hyatt, both of Benton; two sisters, Pauline McLeod and Sissy Johnson, both of Warren; three grandchildren, Tucker Partridge, Perry Hyatt, and Fletcher Partridge, all of Benton; and two sons-in-law, Wade Partridge and Marty Hyatt, also of Benton. Additionally, he is survived by a large extended family of beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A retiree from Reynolds Metals, he graduated from the Banks Public School System, in Bradley County, Arkansas. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, a freemason, and a member of Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church.

Lathan was devoted to faith and family. He was humble, gentle, patient, kind, and selfless. But, he also loved a good joke or prank, and had a mischievous streak. He was a craftsman, and seemingly, could build or fix anything. His happiest times were those spent with his family. He loved an ice cold coke, and a Saturday morning in the porch swing.

Pallbearers will be Harold Woodard, Jr., Robert Woodard, William “Petie” Woodard, Russell Woodard, Zeke Woodard, Luke Woodard, Andrew Woodard, and Burt Woodard. A memorial service will be held at Ashby Funeral Home, in Benton, Arkansas on Monday, April 2nd, at 10:00am. A graveside service will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Warren, Arkansas at 2:00pm. Brother Larry Campbell will officiate. Visitation will be held at Ashby Funeral Home on Sunday, April 1st, from 6:00-8:00pm. Memorials may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or Saline Memorial Hospice House. The family wishes to express special thanks to his caregivers Tori and Alisha, and to the entire staff of employees and volunteers at Saline Memorial Hospice House.
