Laura Etta Hadden Ward age 81 of Old Union passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. Laura was born on October 8, 1936 in El Dorado to the late Jennie Mabel DeLano Hadden and Arthur Smick Hadden.
Most of Laura’s career was spent working in the Union County Courthouse. She worked in many offices of the courthouse throughout the years and served in many capacities. Later in her career, Laura worked for Attorney, George L. Taylor and for the Prosecuting Attorney’s office for several years, before returning to the courthouse and working as a deputy clerk for the Union County Circuit Clerk’s office, serving several more years before her retirement in 2013. She attended Lawson Baptist Church and was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dan L. Ward; three sisters, Omilia Somavitch, Annabell Patton and Jennie Murphy; four brothers, Author Hadden, Perry Hadden, Stanley Hadden and Billy Hadden.
Survivors include; three sons, Mike Ward of Calion, Steve Ward and wife Theresa of Old Union, Robert Ward and wife Vicki of Old Union; two daughters, Becky Poore and husband Butch of El Dorado and Mary Goff and husband Danny of Lawson; nine grandchildren, Jessica Poore, Jeremy Poore, Brandon Poore, Tiffany Martin, Jennifer Reed, Mary Ann Goff, Courtney Bussey, Lynnlee Ward and Zachery Goff; eleven great grandchildren, Dillon Poore, Lauren Poore, Tristan Poore, Grace Hamilton, Tye Poore, Amy Sessions, Kensley Poore, Brendan Poore, Emma Grace Poore, Addison Martin and Ashton Ward; one sister, Bertha Ford and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Bailey Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Lawson Baptist Church with Bro. Don Travis officiating. Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Life Touch Hospice or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
