G. L. Jerry, 69, of Rt. 3, El Dorado, died Monday in a local hospital following a long illness. Born May 13, 1898, at Lawson, he was the son of William H. and Lucy Webb Jerry. A retired employe of the Ken-Ark Oil Co., he was a lifelong resident of the Union County and was a member of the Union Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ethel Barnett Jerry; one son, Graydon Jerry of Seattle, Wash.; two daughters, a half-brother, Tommy Jerry of Farmerville, La.; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Bernard Beasley officiating. Interment will be in the Old Union Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Doyne Gaddy, Fred Dumas, Jr., Wallace Dumas, Larry Crain, R. H. Crain, and James Saulsbury. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Larkin Wilson, Dr. David Yocum, deacons of the Union Baptist Church and members of the men's Bible class. (El Dorado Daily News - May 30, 1967)
