Bobby Joe Austin (Corn Cob), age 71 of Story, AR, passed away April 4, 2017 at CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs, AR. He was born October 27, 1945 to Charles Henry Austin and Voyza Lee Wallace Austin in Danville, AR. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Beverly Austin, son, Ervin Dwayne Austin, brother, Bill Tom Austin, and 2 infant brothers.
He is survived by his son, Donald Austin (Melissa), daughter Karen Morrison (Wendell), grandchildren, Jeremy Austin (Jessi), Elizabeth Austin, Samantha Smith (Roger), Mariah Morrison, Devan Austin, and Mikala Austin, great-grandchildren, Aspynn Austin, Laytyn Austin, Cayden Smith, Canyon Smith, Cailynn Smith and Cayce Smith, one sister, Maxine Standerfer and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, mowing his lawn even when there wasn’t anything but dirt to mow, driving the roads of Story and gossiping at the Blue Bell. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 6, 4-6 p.m. at Thornton Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Ida, AR. A graveside service will be held Friday, April 7, 2 p.m. at Reed Cemetery in Story, AR with Brother Glen Davis officiating. Pallbearers: Charlie Austin, Brian Morrison, Bubba Morrison, Loyd Lewis, “Happy Jack” Jackie Hood, Ronnie Wallace, Jason Bissell and Melvin Lambert. Honorary Pallbearers: Gip Blackburn, Lori Carley- Blue Bell Café, Elite Home Health of Mena, AR, Janie Morrison, Southwest EMS, S & L First Responders, St. Vincent Hospital and Arkansas Hospice. Beverly Claudine Austin, age 64, of Story, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012.

She was born on August 23, 1947, at Exeter, California, the daughter of Claude Clay Smith and Gloria Irene Winter Smith. On December 7, 1963, she was married to Bobby Joe Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of the Union Hill Jesus Name Church, where she was their song leader for many years. She enjoyed fishing, spending time outdoors and working in her flower garden. Her greatest love was taking care of and spending time with her family, who will all deeply miss her.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Joe Austin of Story; her children and their spouses, Donald and Melissa Austin, Karen and Wendell Morrison and Dwayne Austin, all of Story; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy and Jessi Austin, Samantha and Roger Smith, Devan Austin, Mikala Austin, Mariah Morrison and Elizabeth Austin; four great-grandchildren, Cayden Smith, Canyon Smith, Aspynn Austin and Cailynn Smith; one brother, Randy Smith and his wife, Sue, of Mount Ida; two sisters, Barbara Blackburn and her husband, Gip, of Sims and Judy Elder of Story; one sister-in-law, Maxine Standfer of Story; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 3, 2012, in the Union Hill Jesus Name Church with Bro. James Cogburn and Bro. Herman Woodard officiating.

Visitation will be Friday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Reed Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Pallbearers will be James Kennom, Gary Elder, Jackie Gaston, Todd Hoffroggee, Charles Austin and Ben Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Wallace, Rick Neito, Gip Blackburn; Hospice Home Care of Hot Springs, members of Union Hill Jesus Name Church and her special home hospice nurses, Sandie Burnett and Tonya Campbell.
