Elmer C. Patton, 76, longtime Blytheville cotton buyer, died Tuesday in the Chickasawba Hospital. Born in Greenwood, Texas, he moved to Blytheville in 1923.

He was associated with the George H. McFadden Cotton Co, of Memphis for about 30 years and later with the Patton Brothers Cotton Co. He was a past president of the Blytheville Board of Trade, a member of the First Christian Church, a veteran of World War I, past commander of American Legion Post 24 (in 1931) and received his 50 year Legion pin in 1972.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Grace Moultrie Patton, Blytheville; two sons, Henry C. Patton, Lubbock, Texas and Clyde W. Patton, Greensboro, N.C.; six brothers, Clyde Patton, Memphis, TN, Arthur H. Patton and Buckler P. Patton, Dyersburg, TN; Dr. Sherrel Patton, Sarasota, FL, H. C. Patton, Anniston, AL, Ralph Patton, Sikeston, MO; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Paul Kirkyndall officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the American Legion.

Mrs. Grace Moultrie Patton, 67, died Friday in the Chickasawba Hospital.

She was the widow of the late Elmer Clay Patton, a cotton broker and past commander of the Dud Cason American Legion Post 24.

Born in Portageville, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Odie D. Moultrie, who were pioneer residents of Mississippi County and Blytheville. For 35 years, she and her brother, the late Logan Moultrie, co-managed Moultrie Court, the first motel between Memphis and St. Louis. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Thomas D. Robinson and the Rev. Paul Kirkyndall, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.

She leaves no immediate survivors.
