Obituary:
Mr. Gale Eugene Lacy, resident of Hickory Ridge, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, June 12, 2017 at his home at the age of 86. He was born in Beedeville, Arkansas on Thursday, October 2, 1930.

Mr. Lacy was a 1949 graduate of Beedeville High School, and he and Janice Williamson were united in marriage on January 4, 1953 until her passing on March 19, 2013. Gale served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing and going to deer camp every year. He was a carpenter, farmer, and owned a service station. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church at Gourdneck.

Gale was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Edith (Hanley) Mead; his loving wife of 60 years, Janice Lacy; two brothers, J.T. Lacy and Jerry Mead; and a sister, Mary Ethel Farrer.

He is survived by a son, Charles Stephen Lacy and wife, Kathryn of Sherwood; a daughter, Sandra Phillips and husband, Rick, of Hickory Ridge; four sisters, Glenda Lux of Buena Park, California, Margie Barkelew of Utah, Carolyn Tharp of Oregon, and Janet Jones of California; two grandchildren, Lacy Katherine Phillips of Austin and Patrick Ross Phillips of Little Rock; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Hickory Ridge Church of Christ with Minister Larry McFadden officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery at Gourdneck. Friends may visit at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Charles Lacy, Ross Phillips, Rick Phillips, Roger Williamson, C.L. Williamson, and Jacob King. Honorary pallbearers are Gale’s friends from deer camp.

MRS. JANICE WILLIAMSON LACY, resident of the McCrory area, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Little Rock. She was 82 years of age.

Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in McCrory with funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hickory Ridge Church of Christ. Bro. Carroll Taylor and Bro Jody McFadden were the officiating ministers. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Thompson-Wilson Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lacy was born in McFadden, Arkansas, the daughter of George and Alice Peacock Williamson. She started dating Gale Lacy at the age of fourteen and they were married on January 4, 1953. Mr. Lacy said they had some disagreements but never fought over things in life. Mrs. Lacy attended Citizenship school and later was a 1949 graduate of Beedeville High School. She earned her Registered Nurse’s degree at Leo Levi Memorial Hospital in Hot Springs. Mrs. Lacy was a member of the American Nurses Association, Women’s Bible Study in Jonesboro and a faithful member and supporter of Calvary Baptist Church in the Gourdneck Community. At one time she was the director of nurses at the Woodruff County Hospital as well as at the Wynne Hospital and was the Jackson County Public Health Nurse until she retired after a total of 40 years in the work force. Aside from being with her husband, traveling with her children and grandchildren was the highlight of her life.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Gale Lacy of the home, one son and his wife, Charles Stephen and Kathryn Lacy of Sherwood, one daughter and her husband, Sandra Gayle and Rick Phillips of Hickory Ridge, three brothers; George “Bud” Williamson of Horseshoe Bend, C.L. “Chuck” and Roger Williamson of McCrory, two sisters: Alma Frohlin of Hot Springs, Shirley Holbrook of Jonesboro, and two grandchildren, Lacy Katherine Phillips and Patrick Ross both of Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant sons.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were Billy Phillips, Stephen Lacy, Rick Phillips, Ross Phillips, Roger Williamson and Jackie White.
