Melvin C. Duncan 74, of Dennard, Arkansas passed away December 1, 2014. He was born June 27, 1940 at Shirley, Arkansas to Daniel and Ruby Ellen (Blair) Duncan.

He served in the US Navy aboard ship during the Vietnam War. He retired after 20 years of service, his last tour of duty was aboard the USS Orion. He was an author of 22 science fiction books.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and a sister, and one daughter, Ruth Ellen Black.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Sarah Elizabeth (Vanhorn) Duncan of the home, four daughters, Elizabeth and Arthur Basham of Dennard, AR; Anita and Lance Wilkinson of Kileen, TX; Karrie Gross of Coldwater MS; and Patricia and Greg Coley of Mt Arie, GA; twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three sisters, Lois Lawrence of Salem, AR; Sherry Johnson of Conway, AR; and Sharon Hampton of Plummerville, AR, one brother, Samuel Joe Duncan of Clinton, AR; and many close friends.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm Friday, December 5, 2014 and Funeral Service will be 11:00am Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel Clinton, Arkansas with Pastor Greg Coley, Sean Gray, and Lance Wilkinson officiating. Burial will follow in Dennard Cemetery.

Funeral Arrangements are under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas.

Sarah Elizabeth Duncan, 75, of Dennard, AR passed from this life Saturday, June 13, 2020. She was born November 20, 1944 in Warrington, VA to Mr. William and Mrs. Lucille (Newman) Van Horn. On September 17, 1962, Sarah started a life-long journey when she married her husband, Melvin C. Duncan who passed away on December 1, 2014.

Sarah's greatest priority was being the mother of her home, taking care of her husband and children. She was also employed by Cullpepper Plastic for approximately twenty years. She worked for Family Dollars Stores for around five years as well.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one daughter, Ruth Black.

Sharing and cherishing Sarah's memory are her four daughters; Elisabeth A. Basham, Anita M. Duncan, Karrie L. Grose and Patricia V. Coley, her grandchildren; Sean Gray, Angela Byrd, Jacqui, Joseph Berna, Travis Grose, Peri Grose, Alyssa Johnson, Tyler Story, Heather Basham and Ashley Basham, her great grandchildren; Hudson, Michael, Jocelyn, Lola Ann, Lillie, Gage, Lincoln, Jalyn, Chelsea and Nathan; and a host of other relatives and many good friends.

A funeral service to celebrate Sarah's life will be Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at 2:00pm at Roller McNutt Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton, AR, with Bro. Bob Leal officiating. A visitation will be June 16, 2020, at 1:00pm before the funeral service at Roller McNutt Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Dennard Cemetery following the service. Serving as pallbearers are Sean Gray, Arthur Basham, Greg Coley, Scott Bramlet, Tyler Story and Terry Redwine.

We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance to 2/3 percent of capacity at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.
