Verna Suggs, 75, of Lead Hill, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19 (2016).

She was born Sept. 9, 1941, in Newton County, to the late Benton and Laura Smith.

Verna graduated from high school and went on to complete her degree at School of the Ozarks in Missouri. She was employed as a sales representative for title insurance for a number of years before her retirement.

She was a loving, devoted mother and grandmother. Her love of family also included a close-knit group of extended family and friends. She loved to laugh, travel, shop, cook and play Yacht. Verna enjoyed collecting recipes and even had her own cookbook printed several years ago.

She is survived by her sons, Roger Suggs and wife Sec, of Diamond City, Wendall Suggs, of Green Forest, and Brian Suggs and wife Erin, of Apple Valley, California; daughters, Melanie Snelson and husband Bill, of Lead Hill, and Cindy Suggs of Spiro, Oklahoma; brother, Glen Smith and wife Deannie, of Kansas City, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; as well as many other loving family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Jim Smith, and two sisters, Ruth Holland and Lucille Smith.

Celebration of Life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest, with interment following at Milum Cemetery in Lead Hill. Family members will share memories and officiate. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at the funeral home.
