LEFORS, John Wesley - Jack Lefors, one of the first settlers in the Gentry community, died at his home in that place early Saturday morning. Funeral services were held at his home Sunday afternoon, the Rev. T.A. Martin conducting the services. Burial was made in Bozarth Cemetery. Mr. Lefors had never married and lived alone. He was a brother of the late W.H. "Buck" Lefors and an uncle of Frank and Sherman Lefors of Gentry. City Recorder E.O. Lefors of Bentonville was a cousin of the deceased. Mr. Lefors was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lefors who were among the first pioneers of west Benton County and formerly lived on the land that is now a part of the town of Gentry. They came to Benton County before the Civil War and owing to their favoring the Union cause were forced to leave until the war was over. Later the family returned and made their home there.

John Lefors, or "Uncle Jack," as he was familiarly known to his host of friends, passed away at his home in Gentry at 5 o'clock Saturday morning after a several weeks' illness at the age of 85 years and 18 days. Funeral services were held from the residence at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon with Rev. T.A. Martin officiating. Burial was in the Bozarth cemetery beside his father and mother under the direction of Carpenter Bros. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends were in attendance to pay their last respects to a departed one. John Wesley Lefors was born Jan. 13, 1846 near Dadeville, Mo. At the age of 15 years he, with his parents, came to Benton county and since that time his home has been at Gentry, having located in this section many years prior to the time Gentry was established as a town. He was well and favorably known to all in this section, to whom he was a most familiar figure, all referring to him as "Uncle Jack" Lefors. Surviving him of his own immediate family is but one sister, Mrs. Frances Lefors, his father, mother, two brothers and four sisters having preceded him in death. A number of nieces and nephews in this section also survive him.
