When Carl Hollis Bass was born on November 28, 1907, in Manila, Arkansas, his father, Hollis, was 36 and his mother, Della, was 29. He had two sons with Bertha Louise Taschner between 1939 and 1940. He died on February 28, 1978, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at the age of 70.
