Billy Ray Beene, 88, of El Dorado, AR passed away at his residence on Thursday, July 27, 2017.
Born on June 2, 1929 in El Dorado, AR; he was the son of Curtis Thomas Beene and Ethel Gunnels Beene. He retired in 1987 as maintenance superintendent for Columbia Carbon after 36 years employment. After his retirement he was the owner of Independent Motors and was the owner of several Cessna airplanes as he loved flying. Billy was an avid hunter belonging to the Molnaird Hunting Club. He also enjoyed fishing from his cabin on the Ouachita River at Pop’s place for over 55 years. Billy loved nothing more than being with his family and friends.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geneva Silvertooth Beene; daughter, Jerri Sue Phelps and sister, Sue Butler Albritton. Billy is survived by: his daughters, Mary Jane Ellis of El Dorado, AR, Gaile Ezell (EZ) of El Dorado, and Tanya Groomes of El Dorado; son, Tommy Beene of El Dorado; brothers, J.W. Beene of El Dorado, AR and Jerry Beene of Hampton, AR; grandchildren, Kisha Faulkner (Shane), Chrissy Jenkins, Ronnie Holliday (Sarah), Crystal Tucker (Stacy), Matthew Ezell, Joey Hurley (Brandy), Brittany Aycock (Parker), Angel Waller, Madeline Beene, Melissa Meinert, and Jacob Phelps; fifteen great grandchildren with two on the way, and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Young’s Chapel with Rev. Kim Nesbitt officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
