Effie Carl Lee Potter was born on August 9, 1883, in Mississippi. She had three sons and two daughters with Melvin Ufratus F. Brownlee between 1910 and 1920. She died on November 3, 1936, in Mississippi, Arkansas, at the age of 53, and was buried in Blytheville, Arkansas.

When Melvin Ufratus F. Brownlee was born on February 24, 1880, in Union, Mississippi, his father, John, was 43 and his mother, Margaret, was 42. He had three sons and two daughters with Effie Carl Lee Potter between 1910 and 1920. He died on May 21, 1961, in Dell, Arkansas, at the age of 81.
