Mrs. Catherine Sunshine Fitzmaurice, 93, formerly of Steele, went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 30, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Sunshine was born February 8, 1918, in Huffman, and resided most of her life in Cottonwood Point and Steele. She lived in Memphis the last three years of her life.

She was a retired farmer and was of the Roman Catholic faith.

Although she had no children of her own, Sunshine was a second mother to many friends and relatives and will always be remembered for her contagious laugh and beautiful gardens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey Lee Perry and Sallie Lucille Cheatham Perry; two sisters, Gloria Tempest Perry Capehart and Mary M. Perry; and one brother, Aubrey Lee Perry Jr.; and her husband of 61 years, James Mathias Fitzmaurice.

She leaves two brothers, Glen Perry and wife Emily of Steele and Eddie Perry and wife Diane of Olive Branch, Miss.; one sister, Ann Perry Bancroft and husband Charles of Memphis; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with Sister Mary Frances Reis officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Mr. James Mathis Fitzmaurice, 82, of Steele, Mo., died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at River Oaks Care Center in Steele.
He was born at Armorel, Ark., on March 24, 1915, Mr. Fitzmaurice graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Caruthersville, Mo., and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. A retired farmer, Mr. Fitzmaurice was name one of the top ten cotton producers in the State of Missouri from 1965 until 1970. He spent most of his life in Pemiscot County.
James leaves his wife, Catherine "Sunshine" Perry Fitzmaurice of Steele, Mo.; and five sisters: Nellie Weiford of Priest River, Id., Catherine Shaw and Martha Fitzmaurice, both of Steele, Marguerite Bozeman of Caruthersville, Mo., and Sally Houston of Elaine, Ark.
Graveside services for Mr. Fitzmaurice were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Elmwood Cemetery with Sister Mary Frances Reis officiating. Wilson Funeral Home of Blytheville, Ark., was in charge.
