Willie Ann McConnell was born on August 31, 1879, in Lee, Illinois. She was married three times and had five children. She died on October 8, 1963, in West Helena, Arkansas, at the age of 84, and was buried in Walnut Corner, Arkansas.

When Wallace Oscar Steinbeck was born on November 5, 1886, in Bardwell, Kentucky, his father, William, was 42 and his mother, Mary, was 36. He married Willie Ann McConnell on September 4, 1920, in Arkansas. He died on February 23, 1972, in West Helena, Arkansas, at the age of 85, and was buried in Walnut Corner, Arkansas.
