When Edwin Leo BURKS was born on August 14, 1895, in Monticello, Arkansas, his father, Jay, was 23 and his mother, Addie, was 21. He married Mary Katherine CLARK on July 15, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois. They had three children during their marriage. He died on March 22, 1989, in West Helena, Arkansas, at the age of 93.
