Roy V. “Bud” Edington, 71, of Waldo, AR died Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia, AR.
He was born November 10, 1945 in Magnolia, AR. He worked in the oil and gas industry for over 50 years and retired as a driller for Swanson Drilling Company in Fort Wort, TX. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, his family and all of his “oilfield buddies.”
Roy was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Ruby (Flaherty) Edington and his brother Richard Edington. He is survived by his wife Dixie Edington of Waldo; daughter Stacia Huffman and children Courtnie, Haley, Callie, and Richard of Waldo; son Brian Edington and wife Sonya of Stamps and children A.J. Erwin and fiancé Courtney Edmondson of Magnolia and Tiffany Erwin of Stamps; Gary Smitherman and wife Kayla of Waldo, whom Bud considered his “second son”; brother in law John Beasley and wife Cindy of Waldo; nephew David Beasley and wife Kailey of Magnolia; niece Rebecca and Cameron Loe and daughter Abby of McNeil.
Visitation with the family will be Monday, June 19 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Graveside services will be Tuesday, June 20 at 2:30 p.m. at Shiloh Cemetery with Bro. Petie Ward officiating. The family requests donations be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org
