When Helen Josephine Conrey was born on December 24, 1898, in Arkansas, her father, Charles, was 25, and her mother, Alice, was 22. She married Joseph Paul Mills on August 17, 1919, in her hometown. They had one child during their marriage. She died in October 1986 in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 87.
