Joyce Walker, age 86, of Glenwood, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016. She was born on July 11, 1930 in Peoria, Arizona, the daughter of Jesse Fox and Dollie Bissell Fox.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Walker; her parents; her sister, Willie Gill; and five brothers, Hershal Fox, Johnny Fox, J. N. Fox, Marion "Buddy" Fox and Hollis "Doc" Fox.
In 1971, Joyce opened Merle Norman Cosmetics, the first national franchise operating in Glenwood's business community. After 45 years, it is still in operation by the family today. She was a Methodist in her faith and loved being with her family. She enjoyed her garden, especially tending to her beautiful roses, and she loved to cook.
She is survived by her five children, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and her long-time friend of Hot Springs.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 10, 2016, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Rev. Lonnie Landers officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.
