B.R. Oliphant Jr., 93, of Stuttgart passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Baptist Health-Stuttgart.

Mr. Oliphant was born April 6, 1924, in Pine Bluff to Barnwell Rhett and Beryle Mathis Oliphant. He grew up in Clarendon and served during World War II in the India Burma Campaign. Upon returning home he attended what was then Arkansas Polytechnic College in Russellville and earned a degree in accounting. He was a retired accountant with Riceland Foods in Stuttgart and long-time member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church.

Rhett was a very devoted husband, loving father and Paw-Paw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed Razorback football and baseball and in recent years looked forward to coffee group outings with his loyal friend, Otto Teague.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Oliphant; and siblings, Charles, Thomas, Robert and Margie.

Survivors are his children, Kim (Tommy) Oliver of Stuttgart and Kandy (Kenny) Gray of Roe; his grandchildren, Lane Oliver (Erin), Loren Oliver (Michelle), Megan Lawless of Roe, Kortney Gray (Megan) and Lindsey Walker (Darren); and his great-grandchildren, Hannah and Luke Oliver, Holden, Forest and Graylie Lawless, D.J., Samantha and Kent Walker, Karsyn and Korbin Gray and Connor Simpson; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church with memorial services, officiated by the Rev. David Moore, following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be private by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
