Clifford Parsons Newman, 81, of Springdale, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1993, in Springdale Memorial Hospital. Born Feb. 15, 1911, at Lewisville, Texas, the son of William Oliver and Maggie Morton Newman, he moved to Springdale in 1951 from Barger, Texas, where he was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. He was co-owner of a restaurant and an automobile business. After moving to Springdale, he was owner of Cliff's Welding Shop and co-owner of Ozark Drive-In. He was in real estate for 28 years. He was a Baptist.

Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Lois Marie Williams Newman of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Gloria Newman) Fields of Springdale; a sister, Margaret Ingram of Magnolia; two grandchildren, Jimmy Ray Fields and Tracy Renee Fields Carpenter, both of Springdale; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sisco Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Burton A. Miley officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Sisco Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers are Jim Fields, Jimmy Ray Fields, Tad Carpenter, W.C. Newman, John Guthrie and Bill Dorothy. Honorary pallbearers are Warren Reed, Oliver Pianalto, Brant Holland and Arlis Wright.

SPRINGDALE — Lois Marie Williams Newman passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at the age of 97 years at Circle of Life Hospice.

Born on Sept. 5, 1920, to Cleveland and Myrtle Williams in Oletha, Texas. She moved to Borger, Texas, in 1938. She married Cliff Newman on Dec. 5, 1940, and they were married 52 years. Cliff and Lois moved to Springdale, Ark., in 1951. Lois spent many years working in the meat market for Harps Food Store. Lois was saved and baptized as a young girl in Texas. She loved the lord and was active in First Baptist Church.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff Newman and her brother C.C. Ball. She is survived by her daughter Gloria Fields and son-in-law Jim Fields of Springdale. Two grandchildren, Jimmy Fields and wife Michele Fields of Springdale, Tracy Carpenter and husband Tad Carpenter of Weatherford, Texas. Great grandchildren Brianna Fields, Rene' Smith and husband Jaret Smith, Clay Carpenter, Cord Carpenter. And her pride and joy, great-great-grandson, Noah Smith.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Pastor Johnny Harp officiating. Burial will follow in Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
