A Time to Be Born:
Sis. Sylvia Cross was born September 6, 1920 to the late Elder Glover and Hattie Glover in Union County, Arkansas.

A Time to Die:
Her season of life ended peacefully on Monday morning, March 7, 2011 in her home. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husbands, Bud Fogle and Jimmy Cross.

A Time to Plant:
She joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Lisbon, AR at an early age. After moving to Camden she united with the Mt. Gillard Baptist Church. She was active in the Ladies Chorus Mission until she became ill and unable to attend. She loved her church and preparing meals for her pastor and family. She loved to feed everybody that came to her home and always kept her doors open for friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed preparing her famous peach cobbler for annual days at church when she was shut in and unable to attend services in person. She was always willing to prepare a dish if someone would pick it up – this was a symbol of her love for everyone.

A Time to Love:
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Bro. Bud Fogle and later to Bro. Jimmy Cross. No children were born.

A Time to Mourn:
Sis. Cross will be forever remembered by her brother, Herman Roberson of El Dorado, AR; her three sons, James Roberson of COS, CO, Clarence Cross of Houston, TX, Donnie Cross of Milwaukee, WI; and six daughters, Billie Ray Stewart of Little Rock, AR, Sue Shamson of Dallas, TX, Bobbie Cole and Margaret Cooper of Louisville, KY, Jeanette Freeman of Murietta, CA, and Shirley Ellis of Rayville, LA. She is also survived by a number of grandchildren; great grandchildren; and a few recently arrived great great grandchildren. Additionally, her family extends through numerous niece; nephews; relatives; and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2011 at Mt. Gillard Baptist Church with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitaion will be from 6-8 p.m. at Proctor Funeral Home. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
