Obie Dean Sargent Williams Grissom died Monday, April 27, 2020 at Ouachita Medical Center in Camden.

She was born to Smead Sargent and Irene Johnson Sargent on September 21, 1925. She gave her life to Christ at an early age at the Damascus Baptist Church in Mount Holly and later united with the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Mount Holly. She served the church dutifully and faithfully in membership and worship until failing health rendered her unable to do so. She also attended services at the Mount Olive Baptist Church and Silver Oaks Health and Rehab in Camden. She maintained a fervent prayer life and walk with God until He called her home.

She married John Curtis Williams on May 3, 1947, and to this union five children were born. John preceded her in death on June 25, 1977. She remarried to James McGraw and later to Calvin Grissom. Both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, Leon (Edna) Sargent and J.S. (Emma) Sargent; three sisters, Olean (S.E.) Hildreth, Vara (L.T.) Jackson and Marzell Hildreth; and two grandsons, Stacy Thomas and Shannon Thomas.

Obie Dean is survived by five children, May Ann (Charles) Thomas of Tyler, TX, Shirley White of Camden, John Earl (Sandra) Williams of Oklahoma City, OK, Margie (Andrew) Reed and Eileen Williams, both of Magnolia; nine grandchildren, Jermaine (Lisa), Teneka (Justin), Chrystal, Christopher, Brittany, Tabitha, Brian (LaTonya), Kimberly, and Ken (Tabitha); nine great grandchildren, Erika, Jordan, Kaitlyn, Kayleigh, Jalen, Jordan, Brooklyn, Aaliyah and Aadyah; two step grandchildren, Sonia and Mike; one brother, Roston (Marvas) Sargent; and one sister, Eva Mae (Curlie) Alexander; a special niece, Louise Bell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Marks Funeral Home in Magnolia.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Mount Zion Cemetery in Lisbon, AR. The Rev. J. Brown will be the clergyman.
